About This Beach
Seacliff State Beach features the iconic concrete ship SS Palo Alto at its southernmost end, an unusual World War I-era tanker now serving as an artificial reef and fishing pier. The beach stretches along Monterey Bay with views of the Santa Cruz Mountains to the north, offering excellent whale watching opportunities during migration seasons. A wide, paved path runs parallel to the shore, perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling with ocean views. The beach includes a visitor center with exhibits on local marine life and history, while an RV-only campground allows visitors to camp near the shoreline. The area has recently undergone restoration work following storm damage, but maintains its historical significance and recreational appeal.
