About This Beach
Sea Rim State Park protects 4,141 acres where the Gulf of Mexico meets marshland, creating diverse ecosystems within one park. The park features 5 miles of beach and 10 miles of paddling trails through wetlands. Unique amenities include primitive camping directly on the beach and floating platforms for overnight kayak trips in the marsh. The Gambusia Nature Trail includes a boardwalk through wetland habitats with interpretive signs about coastal ecology. The park offers excellent wildlife viewing including alligators, river otters, and over 400 species of birds. Recently renovated facilities include a new boardwalk and cabin accommodations. The remote location near the Louisiana border means less crowded conditions than many Texas beaches, even during peak seasons.
