Fire Island National Seashore
Protected seashore with 26 miles of undeveloped beaches, dunes, and maritime forests. Car-free communities accessible by ferry. Features the Sunken Forest, a globally rare ecological community.
Ponquogue Beach
Popular Southampton Town beach with wide stretches of clean white sand. Features modern facilities, concession stand, and volleyball courts. Less crowded than many Hamptons beaches.
Hither Hills State Park
Beach and campground on the eastern end of Long Island featuring beautiful “walking dunes” of Napeague Harbor. Popular destination for families with campsites close to the ocean.
Robert Moses State Park
Five miles of shoreline with pristine beaches, picnic areas, and the historic Fire Island Lighthouse. Less crowded than Jones Beach with excellent facilities and fishing pier. Designated surfing areas available.
Coney Island Beach
Historic beach and entertainment district with a 3-mile sandy beach, amusement parks including Luna Park, and famous Nathan’s Hot Dogs. Iconic New York destination with vibrant atmosphere.
Long Beach
Four miles of pristine white sand beach with a recently rebuilt 2.2-mile boardwalk. Features designated surfing areas, volleyball courts, and concessions. Close to NYC but requires entrance fee.
Rockaway Beach
New York City’s only legal surfing beach with a revitalized boardwalk, food concessions, and playgrounds. A diverse, vibrant beach accessible via subway. Popular with surfers and city-dwellers.
Main Beach East Hampton
Exclusive beach in the Hamptons with white sand and pristine conditions. Offers snack bar, restrooms, showers, and lifeguards during summer. Popular with celebrities and wealthy visitors.
