About This Beach
Padre Island National Seashore is the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world, spanning 70 miles of pristine coastline. This protected area offers an untouched natural beach experience with diverse ecosystems. The park is renowned for its Kemp’s ridley sea turtle conservation program, with public hatchling releases during summer months. The remote beaches provide excellent opportunities for primitive camping, beach driving (4WD recommended for some areas), and wildlife viewing, including over 380 bird species. The Laguna Madre on the western side offers calm waters for windsurfing and kayaking.
