About This Beach

Packery Channel Beach surrounds a water passage connecting the Gulf of Mexico to the Laguna Madre between Padre Island and Mustang Island. The beach features jetties extending into the Gulf on both sides of the channel, creating prime fishing spots without needing a boat. The channel area attracts diverse marine life, making it excellent for snorkeling along the rocks with visibility often reaching 10-15 feet. The south jetty offers a concrete walkway for easier access, while the north side provides a more natural experience. The beach area is less developed than nearby beaches, offering a calmer atmosphere. Bird watching is exceptional with coastal species using the jetties as perches and hunting grounds. The channel creates interesting currents and water patterns, appreciated by photographers and nature enthusiasts.
