Home/Texas/McFaddin Beach

About This Beach

McFaddin Beach is part of the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge, offering 15 miles of remote, undeveloped shoreline between High Island and Sea Rim State Park. The beach is known for unique prehistoric archaeological finds including Paleo-Indian artifacts and Ice Age fossils occasionally exposed by erosion and storms. The refuge protects one of the largest remaining freshwater marshes on the Texas coast, creating diverse wildlife habitat. Beach driving is permitted with a 4WD vehicle recommended. No facilities exist, resulting in a truly primitive experience. Fishing is exceptional, particularly for pompano, redfish, and shark from the surf. The area serves as critical habitat for migratory birds and endangered species, offering excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.
