About This Beach
La Piedra State Beach is part of Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach, comprising three “pocket beaches” along the Malibu coast. Accessed via a steep trail from the Pacific Coast Highway, this secluded beach rewards visitors with dramatic scenery featuring massive rock formations and clear waters. The beach’s relative isolation means it’s typically less crowded than other Malibu beaches, providing a more serene experience. Large offshore rocks create interesting conditions for photography, especially at sunset when silhouettes form against the colorful sky. The beach has no facilities, emphasizing its natural, undeveloped character, and parking is limited to roadside spaces along the highway, adding to its hidden gem status.
