About This Beach
Golden Gardens Park is a popular urban beach in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, offering stunning views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The park features sandy beaches, wetlands, hiking trails, and fishing piers. It’s one of the few Seattle parks with designated fire pits, making evening beach bonfires a popular activity (permits required). The protected waters of Puget Sound make it suitable for swimming during warmer months. Originally developed in 1907 as an attraction at the end of a streetcar line, the park maintains its historic bathhouse, now used as a rentable event space. The juxtaposition of natural beach and forest settings within the city limits makes it a cherished urban escape.
