About This Beach
Dillon Beach is a privately owned but public-accessible beach at the mouth of Tomales Bay in Marin County, characterized by its expansive white sand shoreline and dunes. Unlike most California beaches, it allows dogs off-leash, making it exceptionally popular with pet owners from throughout the Bay Area. The beach offers spectacular views of Point Reyes Peninsula across Bodega Bay and impressive Tomales Point to the south. Consistent winds make it popular for kite flying, while sheltered areas provide protection for picnicking. The adjacent Dillon Beach Resort offers cabins and camping with beach access, while the small village includes a general store and café. The beach charges a modest access fee, which helps maintain its clean, well-kept condition despite heavy use.
