About This Beach

Carlsbad State Beach, also known as Tamarack Beach, stretches along a scenic 4-mile coastline in North San Diego County. This narrow, bluff-backed beach offers good swimming conditions with seasonal lifeguard service and excellent surf breaks for all skill levels. The Carlsbad Seawall, a paved walkway running alongside the beach, provides a popular route for walkers, joggers, and cyclists with uninterrupted ocean views. South Carlsbad State Beach includes a campground atop the bluffs with RV hookups and tent sites overlooking the Pacific. The beach is adjacent to the charming Carlsbad Village with its shops and restaurants, while spring visitors are treated to the colorful spectacle of the nearby Flower Fields in bloom.
