Home/California/Bolsa Chica State Beach

About This Beach

Bolsa Chica State Beach stretches for three miles along Pacific Coast Highway, offering a wide, flat sandy shoreline with excellent facilities. The beach features fire rings for evening bonfires, a rare amenity on California beaches, making it a popular gathering spot after sunset. A paved multi-use path runs the length of the beach, connecting to the 10-mile Huntington Beach Bike Trail. Surf fishing is particularly popular here, with grunion runs attracting enthusiasts during spring and summer months. Across the highway, the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve provides 1,200 acres of protected wetlands with walking trails and some of Southern California’s best bird watching opportunities. The beach offers RV camping with electric hookups, creating an affordable oceanfront accommodation option in otherwise expensive Orange County.
