About This Beach
Andy Bowie Park is a 28-acre county park on South Padre Island featuring excellent Gulf beach access with comprehensive amenities. The park offers more than 500 feet of beachfront with clean facilities including restrooms, showers, and changing areas. Beach umbrella and chair rentals are available seasonally. The adjacent South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center provides boardwalks through wetland habitats for wildlife viewing. The park includes a concession stand, BBQ pits, and covered picnic areas for family gatherings. Located at the northern end of the developed portion of South Padre Island, the park offers a good balance between amenities and natural beauty. The park hosts the sandcastle trail featuring elaborate sand sculptures created by professional artists.
