Upscale, quiet beach community between Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet. Features prestigious golf courses, bike paths, and well-maintained beaches. Known for its less crowded shoreline and family-oriented atmosphere.
Harbor Island
Private gated community between St. Helena Island and Hunting Island featuring 2.5 miles of pristine beaches. Known for excellent shelling, wildlife viewing including dolphins and loggerhead turtles, and quiet, uncrowded atmosphere.
Salter Path Beach
Historic fishing village on Bogue Banks with a more local, authentic feel. Features less development, uncrowded beaches, and access to both the ocean and Bogue Sound. Known for its maritime history and local seafood.
North End Beach
Residential area north of the Virginia Beach resort area featuring less crowded beaches and primarily local atmosphere. Limited commercial development with public beach access points between private properties. Free access with restricted street parking.
Sandbridge Beach
Known as “The Outer Banks of Virginia,” featuring 5 miles of secluded beaches away from the main tourist area. Primarily residential with vacation rentals, limited commercial development, and quieter atmosphere. Adjacent to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
Fenwick Island State Park (Maryland portion)
The northernmost beaches of Ocean City, adjacent to the Delaware state line, offering a quieter experience than the main Ocean City beaches. Features less development, wider beaches, and free parking areas. No entry fee with seasonal lifeguards.
Matapeake Beach
Quiet Chesapeake Bay beach on Kent Island with panoramic views of the Bay Bridge. Features a separate dog-friendly beach area, fishing pier, and historic clubhouse. Less crowded alternative to Sandy Point with small entry fee.
