Downs Park Beach
Anne Arundel County park on Chesapeake Bay featuring a designated dog beach area (no human swimming). Includes fishing areas, hiking trails, playground, and picnic facilities. Entry fee required with scenic Bay views and pet-friendly policies.
Terrapin Beach Park
Queen Anne’s County park on Kent Island featuring a small beach area, 3.25-mile nature trail, and diverse ecosystems. Offers beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, wildlife viewing opportunities, and natural sandy shoreline. Free admission.
Big Stone Beach
Remote, natural beach on Delaware Bay with limited development. Named for the stones along the shoreline rather than sand. Popular for fishing and bird watching with few facilities and minimal visitors. Primarily local usage.
Kitts Hummock Beach
Historic beach community on Delaware Bay dating to 1738, named for early settler. Important horseshoe crab spawning area and migratory bird habitat. Limited facilities with small, primarily residential community and natural beaches.
Roosevelt Inlet Beach
Small beach area at the point where Broadkill River meets Delaware Bay. Popular fishing spot and scenic location for photography. Features views of Cape May-Lewes Ferry and harbor entrance. Limited facilities with focus on fishing.
Bennett’s Pier
Remote beach area within Milford Neck Wildlife Area on Delaware Bay. Limited facilities with natural setting ideal for fishing, kayaking, and wildlife observation. Part of important migratory bird habitat with minimal development.
Holts Landing State Park
Small, quiet park on the southern shore of Indian River Bay featuring the only pier on Delaware’s inland bays built specifically for crabbing. Offers bay beach access, picnic areas, and boat launch. Less crowded than ocean beaches.
Prime Hook Beach
Natural beach adjacent to Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge on Delaware Bay. Limited facilities with peaceful setting ideal for nature observation and fishing. Not ideal for swimming but offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.
