Located on Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge, one of Georgia’s most pristine barrier islands. Accessible only by boat, featuring seven miles of undeveloped beaches, maritime forest, and salt marshes. Day use only with no facilities or overnight camping.
Beaches for Conservation
Little Beach (Little Cumberland Island)
Private island north of Cumberland Island with extremely limited public access. Features pristine beaches, conservation areas for sea turtles, and a historic lighthouse. Primarily accessible only to property owners and their guests.
Napatree Point Beach
A conservation area featuring a mile-long barrier beach extending from Watch Hill. Offers a natural beach environment with excellent bird watching, swimming, and hiking opportunities in a protected setting.
Goosewing Beach
A pristine barrier beach managed by The Nature Conservancy adjacent to South Shore Beach. Offers a natural beach experience with important nesting habitat for piping plovers and other shorebirds.
Duxbury Beach
A 7-mile barrier beach protecting Duxbury Bay with both ocean and bay sides. Managed by a nonprofit organization for conservation and recreation, with areas for off-road vehicle access and wildlife protection.
Crane Beach
A pristine 4-mile sandy beach managed by The Trustees of Reservations with dunes and maritime forest. Features walking trails, bathhouse facilities, and conservation efforts protecting piping plover habitat.
