Hart-Miller Island
Remote island in Chesapeake Bay accessible only by boat featuring a 3,000-foot sandy beach on the western shore. Offers primitive camping, hiking trails, and natural beach experience. No facilities except portable toilets during summer months.
Point Lookout State Park
Historic park at the southern tip of Maryland’s western shore where the Potomac River meets Chesapeake Bay. Features a beach area, fishing pier, boat launch, campground, and Civil War museum. Entry fee required with spectacular water views.
Rocky Point Beach and Park
Baltimore County park on the Back and Middle Rivers featuring a swimming beach, fishing pier, boat ramps, and picnic areas. Offers beautiful water views with pavilion rentals available for events. Entry fee required with seasonal operation.
Holts Landing State Park
Small, quiet park on the southern shore of Indian River Bay featuring the only pier on Delaware’s inland bays built specifically for crabbing. Offers bay beach access, picnic areas, and boat launch. Less crowded than ocean beaches.
Bowers Beach
Historic fishing village where the St. Jones and Murderkill Rivers meet Delaware Bay. Features maritime museum, fishing charters, and small public beach area. Known more for fishing, crabbing, and boating than swimming.
Augustine Beach
Northern Delaware beach on Delaware River featuring popular boat launch, fishing areas, and picnic facilities. Not primarily for swimming but offers river access, fishing opportunities, and scenic views of the Delaware River.
Roosevelt Inlet Beach
Small beach area at the point where Broadkill River meets Delaware Bay. Popular fishing spot and scenic location for photography. Features views of Cape May-Lewes Ferry and harbor entrance. Limited facilities with focus on fishing.
Delaware Seashore State Park
Six miles of ocean and bay beaches divided by the Indian River Inlet. Features modern campground, marina facilities, and excellent surf fishing. Access to both ocean beaches and calm bay waters for various activities.
Lewes Beach
Calm bay beach in historic town known as “The First Town in the First State.” Features gentle waves ideal for families with young children, nearby Cape May-Lewes Ferry, and charming downtown with museums, shops, and restaurants.
