About This Beach

Pacific Beach stretches for more than two miles along San Diego’s coastline, offering a quintessential Southern California beach experience with a lively atmosphere. The beach is anchored by Crystal Pier, a historic wooden pier with cottages built over the water that are available for overnight stays. A paved boardwalk runs the length of the beach, bustling with cyclists, skaters, and pedestrians, while connecting to the adjacent Mission Beach to the south. “PB,” as locals call it, is known for its youth-oriented culture with numerous beachfront bars, restaurants, and shops along Garnet Avenue and Mission Boulevard. The wide, sandy beach accommodates volleyball courts, while lifeguard towers ensure swimming safety year-round in designated areas away from the popular surf breaks.
