About This Beach
Pescadero State Beach encompasses a mile-long shoreline with sandy beaches, rocky cliffs, tide pools, and adjacent marsh natural preserve. The beach is divided into several sections by rock outcroppings, with the northern areas featuring sandy shores perfect for walking and beachcombing, while the southern section offers fascinating tide pools during low tide. Across Highway 1, the Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve provides 235 acres of protected wetlands that attract more than 160 species of birds, including herons and egrets. A system of trails allows visitors to explore the marsh without disturbing wildlife. The beach offers excellent facilities including picnic areas with barbecue pits, restrooms, and educational interpretive displays about the local ecosystem.
