About This Beach
Laguna Creek Beach is part of the Coast Dairies property recently designated as part of the California Coastal National Monument. This relatively secluded beach features interesting sea stacks and rock formations offshore, creating a dramatic landscape popular with photographers. The beach is accessible via a short trail from Highway 1, descending through coastal prairie habitat with seasonal wildflower displays. At low tide, extensive tide pools form around the rock formations, revealing colorful sea life including anemones, crabs, and sea stars. Harbor seals often haul out on the offshore rocks, while the adjacent Laguna Creek creates a small lagoon that attracts shorebirds. The beach’s north-facing orientation makes it somewhat protected from prevailing winds, creating a pleasant microclimate on calm days.
