About This Beach
Pacifica State Beach, also known as Linda Mar Beach, is a mile-long, crescent-shaped sandy beach nestled at the mouth of the San Pedro Valley. Known as one of the most reliable surfing beaches in the Bay Area, it features gentle waves that make it particularly popular for beginning surfers, with a surf school and rental shop adjacent to the beach. The southern end is dog-friendly, allowing leashed pets year-round. A coastal trail runs along the beach, connecting to the adjacent Pacifica Pier famous for salmon fishing. The Taco Bell Cantina at the north end holds the distinction of being the world’s most scenic fast-food restaurant, with direct beach views and outdoor seating. The beach has been the focus of significant habitat restoration efforts, including the creation of a restored wetland area that helps protect the endangered steelhead trout.
