About This Beach

Caspersen Beach is famous as the ‘Shark Tooth Capital of the World,’ where visitors use special sifting scoops to find fossilized shark teeth millions of years old. The beach remains in a natural, undeveloped state with a wild, rugged beauty unlike manicured tourist beaches. Extensive wetlands, dunes, and coastal hammocks support diverse wildlife including gopher tortoises. The southern portion of the beach has unofficial clothing-optional usage. The beach connects to the Venetian Waterway Park Trail system, popular for walking and biking.
